After winning PUBG Continental Series 6 (PCS6) this past weekend, Soniqs became the first team in PUBG esports history to win five regional and global titles. But it wasn’t always clear the team would make it this far.

In the qualifying tournament to make PCS6, the team had mediocre results. Ultimately, the team finished in 7th place, just 3 points out of qualifying for PCS6. At the time, many thought that was the end of Soniqs dominance in PUBG esports. However, the team had one more shot to make PCS6 in the last chance qualifiers.

In the final qualifier, there was a glimpse of Soniqs true capabilities as the team put up 103 points in 12 matches. This not only got the team second place overall in the closed qualifiers but also a ticket to compete in PCS6.

Once in PCS6, the Soniqs were back in the driver's seat, leaving little to question if the team was still championship-caliber. In the opening week, Soniqs developed a 27-point lead over second place. In 15 matches, Soniqs won three in a row and four in total, accounting for seven top-3 finishes in the first week.

Headed into Week 2, all Soniqs had to do was keep the lead to win its fifth championship in PUBG. Things got close over the weekend as teams like YAHO, eUnited and Guadalajara Gascans crept up the standings. At one point, eUnited took the lead in PCS6 before the Soniqs responded with a 12-kill victory.

The top-3 on the leaderboard would remain close until the final day of PCS6. eUnited would drop out of the running but YAHO remained closely behind Soniqs throughout the entire evening. With only a few matches remaining and YAHO poised to take first place, Soniqs needed one more high-kill victory to secure the championship. It came in game three when the team put up a massive 19-kill victory giving Soniqs 29 points and enough distance on the scoreboard to close out PCS6.

With a total score of 289 points and seven games won, the Soniqs retook the throne as the best PUBG program in North America and arguably the world.

The team will return to competition in May for a smaller ESL tournament before preparing for Nations Cup in June.
